Harare: Musharrafani’s second-innings spell helped Zimbabwe to a mammoth win against Bangladesh on the third day of the one-off Test at the Harare Sports Club on Tuesday.
Bangladesh resumed their second innings from 40/1, needing 230 more with nine wickets in hand to avoid an innings defeat, as the decisive third day of the solitary match began.
But the visitors could add another 145 runs to their overnight score for the remaining nine wickets, losing by an innings and 85 runs.
Experienced middle-order batsman Mushfiqur Rahim was the top scorer in Bangladesh’s second innings with a cautious 34 off 62 balls, followed by captain Najmul Hossain Shando’s 30.
Apart from them, only four other Bangladeshi batsmen managed to score double figures against the Musharrafani-led Zimbabwe bowling attack as they failed to break the 200-run barrier in each innings of the tour.
Musharabani took four wickets for 65 runs in his 17 overs in Zimbabwe’s second innings, followed by skipper Richard Nagarava with three wickets. Newman Nyamhuri produced two scalps while Brad Evans chipped in one.
Zimbabwe’s dominant victory was first led by Nyamhuri, who took four wickets in the first innings to bowl out Bangladesh for a modest 140 runs.
Gaya was adjudged man of the match for his sensational 140 in the first innings.
Following the one-off Test match, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh will face off in a three-match ODI series, which is scheduled to be played from July 6 to 11 at the same venue.
