Dharuba: Pakistan captain Babar Azam and West Indies captain Roston Chase officially unveiled the trophy for the upcoming two-match Test series at a ceremony held at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Friday ahead of the opening Test match.
The two captains posed together in the outfield with the elegant black and gold trophy, marking the start of another chapter in the historic Test match between the two nations.
The trophy features a modern matte-black trophy mounted on a polished gold stem and base with the words “Champion” engraved on it.
Its minimal design was on display as the two captains jointly held the silverware during the official photo session ahead of the series.
The two-match series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle, with the first Test scheduled to take place at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy from July 25 to 29, marking the first men’s Test at the venue.
The second and final Test will be played at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain from August 2 to 6.
Pakistan enter the series led by returning Test captain Babar Azam, while Roston Chase will lead the hosts as both teams aim to secure valuable World Test Championship points.
The upcoming tour marks Pakistan’s first red-ball assignment in the Caribbean since 2021, when the two teams drew the two-match Test series 1-1.
Historically, Pakistan have enjoyed a slight edge over the West Indies in the long format. The two teams have met in 54 Test matches, with Pakistan winning 21, West Indies winning 19 and 14 matches ending in draws.
