
KINGSTON: Shamar Joseph excelled with both ball and bat as West Indies cruised to a five-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I at Sabina Park on Sunday to clinch the three-match series 2-1.
Joseph produced a sensational bowling display, taking five wickets before Sherfan Rutherford scored a half-century to guide the hosts to victory.
Chasing a target of 170, West Indies reached the target by losing 5 wickets in 19.4 overs. Rutherford led the run chase with a 40-ball 54 with 3 fours and 4 sixes.
Shimron Hetmyer provided valuable support with a blistering 32 off 19 balls including 3 fours and 2 sixes, while captain Rowman Powell scored 33 off 27 balls with a four and 3 maximums.
Jason Holder scored an unbeaten 21 off 5 balls, hitting three sixes to seal the win for the Caribbean team.
For Sri Lanka, Vanindu Hazaran was the best bowler, returning figures of 2/17 from his four overs. Dunith Vellalake, Dushmantha Sameera and Mahish Dikshana took one wicket each.
Earlier, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 169 runs in exactly 20 overs after being asked to bat.
Dunith Vellalake scored 43 off 28 balls with 6 fours and a six. Kamil Mishara scored 28 runs off 23 balls including 3 fours and a six.
Opener Padum Nissanga scored 26 off 17 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes while Hazaran and Kamindu Mendis scored 21 and 20 runs respectively.
Joseph led the West Indies bowling attack with impressive figures of 5/33 in four overs. Akhil Hossain, Matthew Forte, Jason Holder and Roston Chase took one wicket each.
