
JOHANNESBURG: West Indies defeated South Africa by six runs in a rain-affected third T20I at the Wanderers Stadium on Saturday, preventing a series whitewash, as the hosts clinched the series 2-1.
Batting first in 10 overs, West Indies were 114-3 led by captain Shai Hope and top-order batsman Shimron Hetmyer.
Hope scored a blistering 48 off 25 balls including 3 fours and 4 sixes while Hetmyer remained unbeaten on 48 off 22 balls with a four and a maximum of 6 runs.
Lungi Nkiti, Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada took one wicket each for South Africa.
Chasing a revised target of 125, the hosts were restricted to 118-6.
Quinton de Kock scored 14 runs off 28 balls with 4 fours and a six, while Jason Smith scored 26 runs off 10 balls including 4 fours and a six.
Kudakesh Moti was the standout bowler for the visitors as he claimed 3/17 in two overs.
Shamar Joseph, Aqeel Hossain and Jason Holder contributed a wicket each.
