LAHORE: A historic clash is set to unfold as reigning Peshawar Zalmi take on Hyderabad Kingsmen in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 Grand Final at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
Heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms threatened to play spoilsport on Saturday night, raising concerns about possible disruption during the finals.
However, the conditions on match day look very favorable, with the weather clearing significantly during the scheduled playing times.
The average temperature under cloudy skies is 26°C, with a “feel” value of 25°C.
Winds from the west at 15 kmph, gusting to 33 kmph, may provide some assistance to the bowlers, especially in the early stages.
Humidity levels are moderate at 62%, which helps to fluctuate under heavy cloud cover, currently at 97%.
Despite the cloudy conditions, there is no immediate threat of rain as the chances of precipitation are low. Visibility is up to about 8 kilometers without causing major disruptions to gameplay.
Overall, although the previous night’s storm raised concerns, the improved and stable weather outlook during match time indicated that a full and uninterrupted match was possible.
Notably, the much-anticipated PSL 11 final will pit 2017 champions Peshawar Zalmi against tournament debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen.
Zalmi cruised into the final with a 70-run qualifier against Islamabad United, while the Kingsmen, who finished fourth after the league stage, defeated three-time champions Multan Sultans and three-time champions respectively in two eliminators to book their place at the summit.
The two teams clashed in the league stage of the ongoing eight-team tournament, which saw Zalmi win by four wickets in a last-ball thriller.
