
Ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to be played from March 26 to May 3, Sialkot owner Kamil Khan on Wednesday officially announced the team name.
Kamil took to social media platform X to share a 3D animated video revealing the team’s identity: “You guessed it. You’ve been waiting. Now, proud to officially introduce SIALKOT STALLIONZ. Excited to be a part of the Pakistan Super League journey.”
Sialkot Stallions hold a special place in Pakistan’s domestic cricket history.
Between 2005 and 2012, the team won six National T20 Cup titles, including a world-record 25-match unbeaten streak, making it the most successful team in Pakistan’s domestic T20 history.
The Stallions produced legends who defined an era: Shoaib Malik, the calm and intelligent captain; Imran Naseer, the opener who thrilled the fans in every innings; Haris Sohail, a reliable all-rounder and Shakeel Ansar, a versatile wicketkeeper-batsman.
Notably, Hamza Majeed-owned OZ Developers bought the rights to the eighth PSL franchise in a star-studded auction held at the Jinnah Convention Center on January 8.
FKS Group Rs. 1.75 billion ($6,247,500) after acquiring the first franchise with a base price of Rs. 1.70 billion, sparking a fierce bidding war among eight qualified bidders.
OZ Developers finally paid Rs. 1.85 billion emerged as the winning bidder, naming the new owner after the city of Sialkot.
This marks the second biggest expansion in PSL history. Multan Sultans were the first team to be added for the third season, increasing the league from five to six teams.
With PSL 11, two additional franchises were introduced, bringing the total number of teams to eight.
