SYDNEY: Continuing his torrid debut season in Big Bash League (PBL) 15, Pakistan star Babar Azam was ducked in the second ball of Sydney Sixers’ qualifier against Perth Scorchers at the Optus Stadium on Tuesday.

Chasing 148, Josh Inglis was stumped by Cooper Connolly in the second ball of the first over and lost the bobber for a six early in the innings.

Babbar has played 11 BBL matches so far this season and has scored 202 runs at an average of 22.44 with a strike rate of 103.06, including two fifties.

Earlier, the Perth Scorchers were 147-9 in their 20 overs, struggling to build momentum after early setbacks. Mitchell Marsh was dismissed for five in the opening over, with Josh Starc taking the crucial wicket.

Finn Allen and Aaron Hardy steadied the innings and added crucial runs to help the team cross the 50-run mark.

However, when Starc struck again, he dismissed Allen for 49 off 30 balls with two fours and four sixes.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis and Cooper Connolly were dismissed by Joel Davies and Ben Manenti respectively.

Captain Ashton Turner scored 29 off 21 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes, but could not accelerate the innings.

At the bottom, Jay Richardson scored 20 off 18 balls with a four and a six, while other players failed to make a significant impact.

For Sydney Sixers, Josh Starc, Jack Edwards and Ben Duvershuis took 2 wickets each while Joel Davies and Ben Manenti took one wicket each.
