
KARACHI: Water and Power Development Authority (WAPTA) defeated Sahir Associates by an innings and 32 runs in the third round of the ongoing President Trophy Grade-I 2025 at the UPL Sports Complex on Sunday.
Batting first, WAPDA piled up 323 runs in 89.2 overs, thanks to a brilliant century from Mohammad Ammar and a solid innings from captain Khalid Usman.
Ammar top-scored with 147 off 274 balls including 23 fours while Khalid scored 93 off 174 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes.
Sahir Associates’ bowlers Khan Jeb and Razaullah took four wickets each while Bilawal took one wicket to trouble WAPDA’s line-up.
In reply, Sahir Associates were bowled out for 103 runs in 39.2 overs.
Mohammad Adil took four wickets and Naqeebullah and Mohammad Zeeshan three wickets each.
Captain Asim Ali Naseer top-scored for Sahir Associates with a 99-ball 58, but the rest of the batting line-up failed to make an impact.
Forced to follow-on, Sahir Associates scored 188 in their second innings.
Tail-ender Mohammad Mosin Khan top scored with 51 runs off 53 balls including 6 fours and 3 sixes.
WAPDA’s Mohammad Zeeshan took 6 wickets for 66 runs in 18 overs, while Mohammad Adil bagged 3 wickets and Naqeebullah one more.
In the next match of the ongoing tournament, Amat Bhatt’s 6 wickets helped defending champions Pakistan Television (PTV) beat Ghani Glass by 88 runs at the National Bank Stadium.
Batting first, PTV were all out for 186 in 38.4 overs. Opener and captain Shamil Hussain scored 68 off 76 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes.
Mir Hamza took 5 wickets for 55 runs in 14.4 overs for Ghani Class. Khurram Shahzad and Afridi took 2 wickets each and Ali Razak took one wicket.
In reply, Ghani Glass scored 223 runs to take a 37-run lead in the first innings.
Khurram Shahzad top scored with 48 off 40 balls including 8 fours and a six while Yahya Bin Abdul Rahman scored 43 runs.
For PTV, Amad Bhat took 4 wickets in 14.2 overs and Israr Hussain and Mohammad Ilyas Khan took 2 wickets each.
In their second innings, PTV were bowled out for 193 in 58.2 overs. Mohammad Suleman top scored with 45 runs off 72 balls while Arafat Minhas and Musa Khan scored 34 and 32 runs respectively.
Chasing a target of 157, Ghani Glass were bowled out for 68 in 14 overs, with Amat Bhat taking 6 for 29 in 7 overs.
Musa Khan took 3 wickets and Israr Hussain took another wicket. Noman Ali scored 23 and 22 runs for Ghani Class side.
In another round of play at the National Bank of Pakistan Sports Complex, Mohammad Sarwar’s scintillating performance helped Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OTGCL) to a comfortable position against Khan Research Laboratories (KRL).
Batting first, ODGCL were bowled out for 244 in 82.4 overs, with Danish Aziz top scorer after a 95-ball 56 including 7 fours. Jawad Ali scored 32 runs and Mohammad Sarwar Afridi added 31 runs.
For KRL, Mohammad Hamza led the bowling with 4 for 31 in 16.4 overs. Ahmed Basheer took 3 wickets and Arshad Iqbal 2 wickets.
In reply, KRL scored 347 runs in 105.5 overs to take a first innings lead. Waqar Ahmed scored 81 runs off 107 balls and opener Mirza Saad Baig scored 80 runs. Imran Rabiq scored 77 runs which included 7 fours.
On the ODGCL side, Adil Amin took 3 wickets for 33 runs in 17.5 overs and was the pick of the bowlers. Mushtaq Ahmed and Mohammad Husayfa took 2 wickets each while Mohammad Imran and Jawad Ali took one wicket each.
ODGCL resumed their second innings and ended the third day at 199 for 4 in 68 overs to lead by 96 runs. Mohammad Sarwar remained unbeaten on 90, while Adil Amin was on 33 at the other end.
Shejad Gul took five wickets to put Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on the brink of victory against State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in the third round match at the State Bank Stadium.
Chasing a target of 224, SBB ended the third day on 170-8, needing 54 more runs to win. The home side were stunned by the fiery bowling of Shehzad Gul, who returned figures of 5/49 in 15 overs.
Qasim Akram remained unbeaten on 33 runs and at the other end Mohammad Abbas was on 7 runs. Abdullah Fazal top scored for SBB with 41 runs and lost his wicket with 5 fours.
Earlier, SNGPL resumed their second innings at 23-3 but were bowled out for 75 in 36.3 overs.
Niaz Khan led SBP with an excellent spell, taking 5 for 38 in 15.3 overs. Mohammad Ismail and Mohammad Abbas took 2 wickets each and Shahid Aziz took one wicket.
Captain Shaun Masood scored 26 off 37 balls for SNGPL including 4 fours as the rest of the batting line-up failed to provide any resistance.
Earlier, Shehzad Gul took his maiden first-class five-wicket haul to strengthen SNGPL’s command of the tournament. Resuming their first innings at 197 for 4, SNGPL were bowled out for 263 in 102.5 overs.
Opener Azan Awais scored 129 off 295 balls with 16 fours and a six, while Shaun Masood scored 35 off 72 balls.
For SBB, Shahid Aziz took 4 wickets for 57 runs and Niaz Khan and Mohammad Ismail took 2 wickets each. Mohammad Abbas and Qasim Akram took one wicket each.
In reply, SBB’s batting unit was bowled out for 115 runs in 32.4 overs.
Shehzad returned to the bowling with five wickets, Shahnawaz Dahani supported him with four wickets and Bilawal Bhatti with one wicket.
