LAHORE: Former Test cricketers Umar Gul and Asad Shafiq will be included in Pakistan’s coaching staff for the Test series against Bangladesh, Jio Super sources said on Thursday.

The Green Shirts are scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a two-match series, tentatively scheduled to be played from May 8 to 20, their first assignment since hosting South Africa for two Tests in October last year.

According to insiders, several changes are expected in Pakistan’s coaching staff, with former Test cricketers Gul and Shafiq likely to be appointed as bowling and batting coaches respectively.

Also, Abdul Saad, who previously served as the fielding coach of the Pakistan women’s cricket team, is likely to play the same role in the men’s team.

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed will be the head coach for the series against Bangladesh, the sources added, adding that the venues are yet to be announced.

Pakistan have already started preparations for the upcoming Test match with 18 players attending a training camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) here till April 20.

With Pakistan set to travel to Bangladesh on May 3, deliberations are already underway on the final composition of the team.
