Sylhet: Pakistan’s red-ball bowling coach Umar Gul has ended the controversy surrounding a viral video of him and Shaheen Afridi appearing to argue on the field during the second Test against Bangladesh at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.

A video of Shaheen Afridi allegedly disrespecting Gull went viral on social media, although there was no verified evidence of their conversation, leading to misunderstanding and rampant speculation among viewers online.

Addressing the confusion on social media over an incident, the former right-arm fast bowler clarified that there was no internal dispute within the team.

He explained that Hasan had suffered a head injury and was temporarily out of the field, while Shaheen Afridi was simply briefed on the situation as part of routine team communications.

“There is a misunderstanding on social media regarding Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali. Hasan Ali was off the field with a head injury and Shaheen was simply informed about the situation. No problem, but it was misunderstood online,” he said.

Earlier, Bangladesh were set a target of 437 by Mushfiqur Rahim’s brilliant innings of 137 off 233 balls with 12 fours and a six.

Liton Das scored 69 runs off 92 balls and Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored 52 runs off 64 balls.

In reply, Pakistan reached their final innings at 0-0 with two overs to play at the end of the third day’s play, and young openers Abdullah Fazal and Azaan Awais will resume their chase at the crease on Tuesday.
