Windhoek: Centuries from Jason Rawls and skipper Mohammed Bulbulia led South Africa to a mammoth 329-run win over Tanzania in the 14th match of the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup at the High Performance Oval here on Monday.

Tanzania opener Laksh Bakrania’s decision backfired as South Africa’s batting unit posted a mammoth total of 397/5 in their 50 overs, with a marathon 201-run partnership to score a century for the third wicket.

Middle-order batsman Rolls top-scored with an unbeaten 125 off 101 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes, while Bulbulia scored 108 off 11 balls, including a six.

Apart from them, openers Jorich van Schalkwyk (47) and Adnan Lagadian (32) made outstanding contributions, while batting all-rounder Paul James boosted the total with a brisk cameo at the back. He scored 46 off 18 balls with 5 sixes and 2 fours.

Simba Mbaki took Tanzania’s leading wickets with two scalps but came at a price as he conceded 85 runs in his seven overs. Alfred Daniel and Khalid Juma, on the other hand, can claim one each.

Chasing a target of 398, Tanzania’s batting unit was stymied by a concerted effort from South Africa’s bowling attack and were bowled out for 68 in 32.2 overs.

Mbaki was their top scorer with a cautious 17 off 26 balls, while Acrey Hugo (12) and Raymond Francis (10) were the other batsmen to hit double figures.

For South Africa, Byanda Majola and Rolls took 2 wickets each while Karn Botha, Bondile Mbatha and Michael Kruskamp took one each.

For his all-round exploits, Rawls was adjudged man of the match.

Meanwhile, the 329-run win lifted South Africa to second place in the U19 World Cup 2026 Group D standings as they now have two points after two matches, while Tanzania are bottom with zero points from as many games.
