Dambulla: The glittering trophy for the much-awaited three-match T20I series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan was unveiled here on Tuesday.

According to details, the silverware was unveiled by Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha and his Sri Lankan counterpart Dasun Shanaka on the roof of the beautiful Rangiri Tambulla International Stadium, which was covered by heavy rain earlier this morning.

The three-match T20I series will be played at the same venue, with matches scheduled on January 7, 9 and 11 respectively, with rain likely to interrupt all the matches as the weather in Tambullai will remain gloomy throughout.

The upcoming series serves as a launching pad for both sides in the build-up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka enter the series with a different momentum as the green shirts are fresh from their home T20I tri-series against Zimbabwe and the 2014 champions.

Historically, the two teams have faced each other in 27 T20I matches, of which Pakistan have won 16 and Sri Lanka 11.
