ISLAMABAD: Ahead of the historic Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 auction scheduled for February 11, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has promoted three Islamabad United players to the Platinum Division, the franchise announced on Tuesday.

The addition of three new Platinum players to their roster was announced on the team’s social media handle.

They join current stars including captain Shadab Khan, pacer Naseem Shah and all-rounder Imad Wasim, bringing United’s total number of platinum players to six, along with Salman Ali Agha, Sahibzada Farhan and Mohammad Nawaz.

Agha and Nawaz received significant upgrades from their previous silver categories, while Farhan advanced from sub-silver to platinum.

Meanwhile, the PSL announced the player category updates for the Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging Divisions through various social media posts, including 73 national players associated with the existing six franchises, including defending champions Lahore Qalandars.

The Gold category has the highest number of players with 33 players, while the Diamond category has 11 players.

In the silver category, 16 players are listed for retention, including 6 from Multan Sultans, 3 from Lahore Qalandars, two each from Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi and one each from Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators.

For the uninitiated, the historic 11th edition of the PSL will see the league expand to eight teams, with Hyderabad and Sialkot joining as new franchises.

For the first time, a league player auction will be held instead of the traditional player draft scheduled for February 11.
