ST JOHNS: Cricket West Indies (CWI) on Thursday announced the 15-man squad for the two-match home Test series against Pakistan from July 25 to August 6.
The hosts have retained a key place in the side that won the Test series against Sri Lanka 1-0 earlier this month, with experienced all-rounder Roston Chase set to continue as their captain.
The West Indies handed a maiden Test call-up to left-arm orthodox spinner Joshua Bishop, who has been one of the most consistent bowlers in regional cricket, taking 91 wickets in the past three West Indies Championship seasons.
The team also marked the return of top-order batsman Kirk McKenzie, who played his last Test match for the West Indies against England in 2024.
McKenzie returned to the Test team on the back of a remarkable performance this season in the West Indies Championship, during which he amassed 323 runs at 64.60 in six innings.
The 25-year-old, who has represented the West Indies in six Tests so far, has been replaced by fellow top-order batsman John Campbell due to a hamstring injury sustained during the recent ODI series against New Zealand.
However, West Indies will be without leading paceman Alsari Joseph, who is absent due to personal reasons.
It is to be noted that the two-match series between West Indies and Pakistan as part of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) will be played from July 25 to July 28 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Dharuba with the first match.
However, the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain will host the next match from August 2 to 6.
