SOUTHAMPTON: The fifth T20I match between England and India at the Rose Bowl here has been delayed due to a toss tour and late arrival at the ground.
According to international media, visitors failed to reach the venue on time due to heavy traffic in the city.
The details further revealed that the Men in Blue team reached the venue 10 minutes after the scheduled time of toss, however, as no overs were lost, the first ball was bowled at 3:00 pm and will now be held at 2:45 pm.
For the uninitiated, this is the second time an international cricket match has been delayed in England, the first being in June last year when the West Indies team failed to reach the Oval in time due to heavy traffic in London.
The toss for the third overseas ODI against England was delayed by 10 minutes after West Indies arrived late.
Meanwhile, the upcoming match is very important for both teams, although England have already clinched the five-match series 3-0, as a win would help them topple India at the top of the world rankings.
However, India will be looking to break a run that saw them succumb to back-to-back defeats against Ireland and England respectively, and comes after successfully defending the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title.
