Lucknow: The fourth T20I between India and South Africa in Lucknow was abandoned on Wednesday due to heavy fog at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

With no ball bowled, no toss, and conditions not conducive to play, the match was called off.

The umpires carried out field inspections six times every 30 minutes, but the situation did not improve at all, with conditions deemed unsafe for the match due to poor visibility.

The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI), considered hazardous to human health, was in the 400s.

With this, India will play the fifth and final T20 on December 19 in Ahmedabad 2-1. The visiting team will try to level the series.

India won the first T20 of the series by 101 runs.

In the second game, South Africa came back to dominate.

Batting first, the Proteas scored 213 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing the score, the Men in Blue were bowled out for 162-4 in 19.1 overs.

In the third match, India restricted South Africa to 117 runs in 20 overs and won by seven wickets.

Abhishek Sharma’s 18 off 18 with three sixes and three fours chased the total to 35 in 15.5 overs for the loss of 3 wickets.

Before the T20 series, India won the ODI series 2-1 while South Africa dominated the Test series 2-0.
