Bulawayo: Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by four wickets in the third and final T20I at the Queen’s Sports Club on Sunday to clinch the three-match series 2-1.
Chasing 144 for 6 in 19.4 overs, Bangladesh reached the target with opener Tanzid Hasan hitting an unbeaten 66 off 58 balls, including a four and four sixes.
Wicketkeeper-batter Pervez Hossain Emon and captain Dawhid Hridoi scored 24 runs each, while Yasir Ali added 10 runs to help Bangladesh complete a successful chase.
Richard Nagarava, Brad Evans and Sikandar Raza took 2 wickets each for Zimbabwe but could not prevent Bangladesh from chasing down the target.
Earlier, Zimbabwe posted 143-7 in the allotted 20 overs, aided by a resilient half-century from Dion Myers and a solid opening stand led by Brian Bennett.
Myers top scored 73 off 53 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes while Bennett scored 47 off 38 balls including 8 fours.
Barring two high scores, none of the Zimbabwean batsmen managed to reach double figures as the Bangladeshi bowlers kept the hosts under pressure throughout the innings. Zimbabwe also lost two wickets through run-outs.
Wicket keeper-batsman Tadiwanashe Marumani was dismissed for 4 runs and skipper Sikandar Raza fell cheaply for 3 runs.
Ryan Burl scored 7 runs, Brad Evans scored a run, Clive Madante had a duck and Milton Shumba remained unbeaten with 4 runs.
For Bangladesh, Mohammad Saibuddin picked the bowlers with figures of 2/35 from his four overs, with Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain and Abdul Ghaffar Saqlain claiming a wicket each.
