KINGSTON: Sri Lanka produced an all-round performance as they beat West Indies by 37 runs to level the three-match series 1-1 in the second T20I at Sabina Park on Sunday.

Chasing a challenging target of 195, Sri Lanka’s bowlers dominated the innings and were bowled out for 157 in 18.1 overs.

West Indies captain Rowman Powell scored 43 off 26 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Shimron Hedmire provided the opposition with 36 off 26 balls including 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Roston Chase scored 17 runs off 17 balls and Sherbane Rutherford added 14 runs. However, the rest of the batsmen failed to make a significant contribution as the home side struggled to keep pace with the required run rate.

In Sri Lanka’s bowling, Tushmantha Sameera and Vanindu Hasaranga took 3 wickets each. Dunith Vellalake took two wickets and Mahesh Dikshana one wicket.

Earlier, Sri Lanka amassed 194-6 in the allotted 20 overs, thanks to brilliant fifties from Kamil Mishara and Dasun Shanaka.

Mishara anchored the innings with an unbeaten 61 off 40 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Shanaka smashed 58 off 24 balls, an innings decorated with 5 fours and 4 sixes.

Captain Gusal Mendis scored 31 off 19 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Kamindu Mendis scored 24 runs off 20 balls including 2 sixes.

Shamar Joseph picked the bowlers for the West Indies, finishing with figures of 3-32 from his four overs. Mathew Forte took two wickets and Shamar Springer took one wicket.

For the uninitiated, the third and final match of the series takes place on Monday at the same venue.
