Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Wednesday announced further changes to the revised schedule of the sixth edition of the Sri Lanka Premier League (LPL), now scheduled to be held from July 10 to August 5 this year.

The upcoming edition of the LPL was originally scheduled to be played in the November-December window last year, but was postponed to October to “prepare” for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India from February 7 to March 8.

Later, in December, SLC confirmed that the sixth edition of its top-level T20 league will be held from July 8 to August 8 mid-year with five teams participating.

Meanwhile, according to the latest development, the tournament has been postponed by one more day and will now start on July 10, while its final has been pushed to August 5.

Notably, unlike the previous update, the SLC did not specify the number of teams participating in the tournament, instead revealing that it would be played at the Sinhala Sports Corporation (SSC) stadium and four venues in Colombo: Rana Premadasa Stadium, Kandy Ballekala International Cricket Stadium and Rangiri Tambulla International Cricket Stadium.

“Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 will be held from July 10 to August 5, 2026,” SLC said in a statement.

“The sixth edition of the much-anticipated T20 league will be played at four venues: SSC, Colombo; RPICS, Colombo; PICS, Ballegale; and RDICS, Tambulla,” it added.

The cricket body further shared that the online portal for registration of overseas players will be opened on May 4.

For the uninitiated, the fifth edition of the LPL was played in July 2024, in which Jaffna Kings won their third title by defeating Galle Marvels in the final.
