DAROOP: Pakistan’s veteran left-arm batsman Shaun Masood became the first player to score a Test century at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy (PLCA) here on Monday.
The 36-year-old reached the milestone on the third day of the first Test against the West Indies, marking the first ever red-ball international to be staged at the aforementioned venue.
With West Indies 311 all out at 1/1, Masood, who came out to bat at No. 3 for Pakistan, dominated the home bowlers and eventually scored a brave century in the first session of the third day here.
The former Pakistan Test captain was the top scorer on the tour with 109 off 184 balls with 12 fours.
For the uninitiated, Cricket West Indies (CWI) presented a commemorative plaque to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) at the start of the ongoing historic tournament.
The PCB shared the development through its official social media handles by posting an image of the plaque designed with a rich mahogany finish on a curvy, polished wooden frame. At its center is a black and gold embossed presentation plate.
The plaque also features a color photo of West Indies captain Roston Chase and his Pakistan counterpart Babar Azam holding the trophy for the ongoing two-match series outside the PLCA, part of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship (WTC).
