Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has expressed deep concern and support after learning about the health condition of former Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Sadran.
Afridi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to offer his condolences and prayers, highlighting the emotional impact of the news and wishing the family strength at this difficult time.
“Had a heartfelt call today with Shapoor Sadran’s brother. So saddened to hear about his condition. You have always been a fighter in the field and I know you will fight this too. Praying for your speedy recovery,” Afridi wrote.
The 38-year-old is said to be in a critical condition in hospital, with recent updates suggesting that he has been admitted to intensive care due to a serious medical complication.
Family members also shared updates on social media, asking for prayers and support as he continues his treatment.
Reports from mid-April 2026 indicate that he is fighting for his life, with doctors stating that his condition is critical and that certain 18-hour periods are critical to his survival.
Shapoor Sadran, a former left-arm fast bowler, represented Afghanistan with 43 wickets in 44 ODIs and 37 wickets in 36 T20Is.
He had a brief but impactful spell in franchise cricket, including a stint in the Bangladesh Premier League, where he took 10 wickets in eight matches.
Chadran retired in 2025 after a career spanning more than a decade, during which he was instrumental in Afghanistan’s rise to international cricket.
He was part of three ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squads and famously contributed to Afghanistan’s maiden ICC Cricket World Cup win in 2015, scoring the winning runs against Scotland in Dunedin.
