Mirpur: Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi joined the ranks of national legends after claiming his 400th international wicket in the first Test against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday.

The left-arm pacer reached the milestone when he dismissed Bangladesh’s Mominul Haq on the fourth day of the ongoing Test, becoming the fifth pacer and ninth overall to reach the milestone.

With the landmark wicket, Shaheen joined legendary Pakistani fast bowlers Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis as the country’s leading wicket takers in international cricket.

The 25-year-old reached the milestone in his 211th international and moved to ninth in Pakistan’s all-time list of highest wicket-takers across formats.

On the opening day of the first Test, the ODI captain achieved a major ICC World Test Championship milestone of becoming the first Pakistani bowler to complete 100 wickets.

Afridi achieved the milestone by dismissing Bangladeshi opener Mahmud Hasan Joy during the opening day’s match.

With the feat, the 26-year-old became the 19th bowler overall to take 100 or more wickets in the World Test Championship (WTC), further cementing his status as Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament.
