EDINBURGH: Captain Kathryn Price backed up her unbeaten half-century with economical bowling figures of 1/16 to lead Scotland to a rain-hit fifth T20I against Netherlands by 24 runs.
The win marked Scotland’s third straight win and helped them top the table with six points from four matches, unbeaten by either the Netherlands or Bangladesh, who had two points after three games.
In a match earlier reduced to 12 overs apiece due to rain interruptions, the Netherlands captain won the toss and elected to field first – helped by Price’s magnificent half-century as the home side piled up 124/3 in the allotted overs.
Price scored an unbeaten 63 off 33 balls with 9 fours and a six.
She also formed important partnerships with opener Catherine Fraser and wicketkeeper batsman Sarah Price, who made significant contributions with 29 and 23 not outs respectively.
For the Netherlands, Heather Seegers, Iris Zwilling and Caroline de Lange can take one wicket each.
After another rain interruption, the match was reduced to a further 10 overs, with the Netherlands set a revised target of 105.
The visitors, however, could muster 80 runs in the allotted overs, succumbing to their second defeat in the T20I tri-series.
Middle-order batsman Sterre Gallis continued to top the score for the Netherlands with 28 off 22 balls, while captain De Leete (14) and opener Heather Seegers (15) were the others to hit double figures.
Scotland’s bowling saw Chloe Abel take two for eight in her two overs, while Olivia Bell, Briannaz Chatterjee and Price chipped in with a scalp each.
For his all-round exploits, Price was named man of the match in Scotland’s title win.
