Sylhet: Pakistan all-rounder Salman Ali Agha has been officially reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second Test against Bangladesh at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Salman was accused of breaching Rule 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel regarding misuse of cricket equipment or clothing, field equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match.
In addition to the reprimand, a demerit point was added to his disciplinary record. It marks his second offense in a 24-month period, taking his total demerit points to two.
His earlier offense also came under Section 2.2 during the ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka on March 13 this year.
The incident occurred in the 82nd over of Pakistan’s second innings when Salman hit a promotional hoard with his bat while returning to the pavilion after being dismissed.
Salman pleaded guilty and accepted a sanction proposed by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, avoiding the need for a formal trial.
The charge was laid by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Allauddin Balekar along with third umpire Kumar Dharmasena and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman Mukul.
Level 1 offenses carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player’s match fee plus one or two demerit points.
