Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Ryan Barrack was fined 25 per cent of his match fee and given one demerit point after he was found using vape inside the dressing room during the IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in New Chandigarh on Tuesday.

According to a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) statement released on Thursday, Barrack was found guilty of violating IPL Code of Conduct 2.21, which deals with conduct that brings the game into disrepute.

The incident occurred during RR’s successful chase of 222, which they completed with four balls to spare.

The BCCI further confirmed that Barrack had pleaded guilty and accepted the ban imposed by match referee Amit Sharma.

In a significant development, the governing body said it is “exploring other options to take strict action against the erring team, its officials and players/players to ensure that the reputation of the IPL remains intact”.

During the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Guwahati on April 10, RR team manager Romy Pinder was fined Rs 1 lakh.

Pinder had told the IPL’s anti-corruption unit that the breach of Rule 4.1.1 of the Players and Match Officials’ Area Code of Conduct was not intentional.

He accepted the charge and apologized unconditionally. The IPL later warned him to exercise more caution in future and strictly adhere to established guidelines.

The issue came to light after pictures of Pinder using his phone near Vaibhav Suryavanshi after the match went viral on social media. Similarly, photos of the Barak incident after the match against PBKS also surfaced online.
