
Mirpur: Rajshahi Warriors beat Chattogram Royals by 63 runs to win the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title in the final at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Friday, thanks to a superb century by opener Tansit Hasan.
Batting first, the Warriors scored 174 for 4 in 20 overs thanks to Hasan’s century.
The left-handed batsman oversaw the Warriors’ innings till the fifth ball of the last over and returned after top-scoring with 100 off 62 balls with 7 sixes and 6 fours.
He was supported by fellow top-order batsmen Sahibzada Farhan and Kane Williamson with 30 and 24 runs respectively, while skipper Najmul Hossain Sandhu lifted the Warriors’ total with an unbeaten 11 off 7 balls.
Muqidul Islam and Shoriful Islam took 2 wickets each for Royals.
Chasing a tough target of 175 runs, Royals’ batting unit stumbled on the big stage and managed to score 111 runs in 17.5 overs before being bowled out.
Royals opener Mirza Tahir Baig top-scored with 39 off 36 balls with 2 fours and a six, while Asif Ali (21), Zahiduzzaman and Hasan Nawaz scored double figures with 11 each against Binura Fernando’s bowling.
Fernando was the standout bowler for the Rajshahi Warriors at the summit, claiming four wickets for just nine runs in his three overs. He was amply supported by Hasan Murad, who took 3/15 in his four overs, while James Neesham chipped in with two scalps.
For his platform-setting century, Hasan was adjudged the man of the match in the PPL 2025-26 final.
