KARACHI: Rawalpindi’s first win of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 ended an eight-match losing streak after defeating former champions Islamabad United at the National Bank Stadium on Thursday.

As per the updated points table, there is no change in the rankings. Despite the defeat, Islamabad United remain third with four wins, three losses and one draw, earning nine points with a net run-rate of 1.082.

The Rawalpindi sit at the bottom of the table with one win and eight losses from nine matches, with a net run-rate of -1.330 and two points.

Multan Sultans, meanwhile, are second on the points table with 12 points from nine matches, behind leaders Peshawar Zalmi, who have already qualified for the playoffs.

Rawalpindi’s decision to bowl first paid off as they bowled out the three-time PSL champions for 137 in 20 overs.

Opener Devon Conway led the batting effort with a 33-ball 40 including 3 fours and 2 sixes. Chris Green contributed effectively with 29 runs off 16 balls, 2 fours and 2 sixes, while Mark Chapman added 23 runs.

On the Rawalpindi side, Mohammad Amir, Dian Forrester and Saad Masood took 2 wickets each and Asif Afridi, Naseem Shah and Daryl Mitchell took 3 wickets each.

In response, Rawalpindi lost 4 wickets in the 19th over and reached the target. Captain Mohammad Rizwan top scored 45 off 38 balls with 5 fours and a six.

Kamran Ghulam scored 42 off 30 balls with 5 fours and a six, while Daryl Mitchell and Forrester scored 32 and 13 respectively.

For Islamabad United, Imad Wasim, Shatab Khan and Chris Green took one wicket each.
