LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam fell short of Fakhar Zaman’s all-time record for most runs in a single Pakistan Super League (PSL) season after being dug out in the final against Hyderabad Kingsmen at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
The right-handed batsman entered the high-stakes final needing one run to surpass Zaman’s landmark tally. However, he failed to add to his score and was dismissed without troubling the scorers, missing out on a historic milestone.
Earlier, during the tournament in 2022, the left-arm batsman set the record for the Qalanders when he scored 588 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 152.72, including seven fifties and a century.
Babur, meanwhile, scored runs in 11 innings at an excellent average of 73.50 and a strike rate of 145.90. His season included two centuries and three half-centuries.
