Dallas: West Indies hard-hitting all-rounder Kieron Pollard on Sunday followed fellow countryman and legendary batsman Chris Gayle’s long-standing century for MI New York at the 2026 Grand League Cricket (MLC) Freedom in Washington. He broke the record.

Despite MI New York losing, Pollard battled bravely in a high-scoring encounter to remain unbeaten on 100 off 56 balls with 11 fours and 4 sixes.

His match-winning effort with the bat saw him break Gayle’s long-standing tally to become the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket history.

The right-handed batsman scored 14,582 runs at a strike rate of 151.12 including 67 fifties and two centuries in his 736th T20I.

Gayle, currently second in the list, has amassed 14,562 runs in 463 matches, recording 88 fifties and 22 centuries at a strike rate of 144.75.

    Meanwhile, after electing to bat first, Washington Freedom posted a blistering 245-5 in their allotted 20 overs thanks to Mitchell Owen’s sensational innings of 155 off 68 balls, including 11 fours and 13 sixes.

    Captain Steven Smith scored 27 off 21 balls with 4 fours while Mark Chapman scored 23 off 12 balls with 3 fours and a six.

    In reply, MI New York were restricted to 215-6 and fell by 30 runs despite Pollard’s unbeaten century.

    Corbin Bosh scored 35 runs off 14 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes, while Romerio Sheppard added 26 runs off 20 balls with a four and 2 sixes.
