Perth: Sydney Sixers defeated Sydney Sixers by 48 runs in the final of the Big Bash League (PBL) 15 at the Optus Stadium on Tuesday.

Batting first, the Scorchers posted 147-9 in 20 overs and struggled to build momentum after an early setback. Mitchell Marsh was dismissed for five in the opening over, with Josh Starc taking the crucial wicket.

Finn Allen and Aaron Hardy steadied the innings and added crucial runs to help the team cross the 50-run mark.

After scoring 49 off 30 balls, including two fours and four sixes, the partnership was broken when Starc again dismissed Allen.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis and Cooper Connolly were dismissed by Joel Davies and Ben Manenti respectively.

Captain Ashton Turner scored 29 runs off 21 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes and Jay Richardson added 20 runs off 18 balls with a four and a six. The rest of the batting line-up failed to make a significant impact.

For the Sixers, Josh Starc, Jack Edwards and Ben Duvershuis took two wickets each, while Joel Davies and Ben Manenti took one wicket each.

In reply, the Sydney Sixers struggled from the start and were bowled out for 99 runs in 15 overs. Opener Babar Azam was dismissed for a duck in the second ball of the first over, Josh Inglis was stumped by Cooper Connolly.

In the fourth over, Mahli Beardman dismissed wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Phillip for 13 off 14 balls and skipper Moises Henriques for 2 off 5 balls as the Sixers reeled to 23-3.

Lachlan Shaw scored 15 runs off 13 balls, including a six, as the sixers lost wickets at regular intervals.

Ben Manendy and Ben Duvershuis added 11 and 10 runs respectively, but it was not enough to mount the challenge.

For the Scorchers, Mahli Beardman took 3/20 in three overs.

Cooper Connolly and David Payne took two wickets each, while Aaron Hardy and Jay Richardson took one each.
