LAHORE: The 84th meeting of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Board of Governors (POG) was chaired by Mohsin Naqvi on Monday.

The board unanimously approved the surplus budget for the financial year 2026-27 and the budget for the 12th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), while also approving a proposal to make the league administratively and financially autonomous.

In a major boost to domestic cricket, the board allowed a PKR 1 billion increase in the domestic cricket budget, raising it from PKR 3 billion to PKR 4 billion.

The meeting also approved a new central contract structure and payment system for Pakistan’s cricketers, along with increased match fees for the men’s national team.

The PCB recently replaced its long-standing category-based central contract model with a five-track system that groups players according to their design expertise rather than placing all players under the same grading system.

The new structure includes Track AB for dual-format Test and ODI players, Track A for Test specialists, Track BC for ODI and T20I specialists, Track C for T20 and franchise specialists and Track D for developing players.

The board also approved a substantial increase in match fees for players participating in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, from PKR 30,000 to PKR 100,000 per match. The match fee for reserve players has also been increased from PKR 15,000 to PKR 50,000 per match.

The BoG also approved the holding of women’s one-day and T20 matches and allocated the necessary funds for their stadiums.

It was also decided to raise the minimum monthly salary of regional ground staff to PKR 42,000. The Board approved funding for the commissioning of 12 additional cricket grounds and allocated resources for staffing and maintenance.

A total of PKR 6.7 billion was approved for the development of the National Bank Cricket Stadium in Karachi and other cricket infrastructure projects across the country.

The Board sanctioned funds for installation of biomechanics machine at High Performance Center in Lahore. During this meeting, the results and decisions of the previous Governing Council meeting were formally approved.

PCB Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Javed Murtaza explained the structural and financial details of the 2026-27 budget to the board.

The meeting was attended by BoG members Anwar Ghani, Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Ismail Qureshi, Sajjad Kokhar, Tanveer Ahmed and Adnan Malik.
