
JEDDAH: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Jeddah after signing a first-ever strategic partnership agreement with the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation (SACF).
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation president Prince Saud bin Mishal Al Saud signed a landmark memorandum of understanding as part of a wider effort to accelerate the development of cricket in the kingdom.
Under this agreement, PCB will construct a modern cricket stadium in Jeddah with latest facilities and built to international standards.
The stadium will be equipped to meet all International Cricket Council (ICC) requirements for Saudi Arabia to host international cricket matches and major tournaments.
The partnership extends beyond stadium construction with the two boards collaborating on cricket infrastructure development technical expertise in stadium planning and operational standards.
The initiative aims to support the development of modern and integrated cricket infrastructure across the kingdom.
The project is expected to contribute to the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 by encouraging investment in sports tourism and improving people’s living standards.
Speaking after the signing, Mohsin Naqvi described the deal as a historic milestone for cricket in Saudi Arabia.
“This agreement is a milestone for the development of cricket in Saudi Arabia,” Naqvi said.
The PCB chairman said the board is proud to contribute to the development of cricket in the Kingdom and the partnership will create new opportunities for players while strengthening bilateral sporting ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
“We are establishing a partnership together that will make the game stronger and stronger,” Naqvi said.
Naqvi also expressed hope that this collaboration will have a lasting impact on the development of the game.
“This partnership will connect cricket circles and become an eternal legacy,” he said.
Prince Saud bin Mishal Al Saud, president of the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation, welcomed the deal and said cooperation would go beyond the construction of a cricket stadium.
He described the partnership as a significant step towards securing a bright future for cricket in Saudi Arabia through long-term cooperation between the two cricket boards.
