LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday extended the deadline for submitting bids for two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams, citing “growing interest” from Europe, the United States (US) and the Middle East.

The announcement was made by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi on his official X handle, sharing that the new deadline has now been fixed as December 22 this year.

“In view of the growing interest in acquiring new HBL PSL teams from Europe, America, Middle East and beyond, we have decided to extend the bid submission deadline by one week to 22nd December 2025,” Naqvi wrote.

“Best of luck to everyone who is excited to welcome our new owners to the HBL PSL family.”

The development comes on the back of a successful roadshow at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, where the marquee league received “unprecedented attention”, with a large number of investors attending the event to express their interest in buying the two new PSL franchises for sale.

The cricket board will hold another roadshow in New York on Saturday as it continues to engage with international investors ahead of the January 6 auction of its two new franchises.

Notably, the PSL, which started with five franchises in 2016 and later expanded to six sides in 2018, has further expanded with the addition of two new teams from its upcoming 11th edition to be played next year.

With the upcoming additions, PSL will undergo its first major overhaul in seven years, bringing the total number of franchises to eight.
