LAHORE: Australia’s three-match T20I tour of Pakistan will be held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore later this month, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday officially announced.
The series will be played on January 29, January 31 and February 1, with all three matches scheduled as evening matches. Australia’s T20I squad is expected to arrive in Lahore on Wednesday, January 28.
The toss for each match will be held at 5:30 PM PKT and the first ball will be bowled at 6:00 PM PKT.
The upcoming series will provide important match practice for both the teams ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.
Pakistan have been drawn in Group A alongside India, USA, Netherlands and Namibia, while Australia will compete in Group B with Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Oman.
The tour will mark Australia’s third visit to Pakistan from March-April 2022, when they toured the country for a historic Test series, followed by an ODI series and a solitary T20I.
Australia also played three of its ICC Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Pakistan. On 5 April 2022, the Kangaroos registered a three-wicket win in the only T20I played at Gaddafi Stadium.
PCB CEO Sumair Ahmed Syed expressed optimism about the series and urged fans to support the teams.
“We are excited to host Australia in the three-match T20I series in Lahore. The tour marks a blockbuster start to the year for Pakistani cricket fans and I urge them to turn up in numbers during the series to support both teams as they put the finishing touches on their T20 World Cup preparations,” Sumir Ahmed said.
“I am sure Gaddafi Stadium has become a familiar sight for the Australian cricket team as they have played one Test, five ODIs and one T20 here since March 2022,” he added.
Looking back, the last time the men in green played for a white-ball series was in November 2024 against Australia.
Under the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan, the Men in Green secured a historic 2-1 ODI series win, their first series win in Australia since 2002. However, Australia bounced back by winning the ensuing T20I series 3–0.
Historically, Pakistan and Australia have faced each other 28 times in T20 Internationals.
The Kangaroos have won 14 matches, while the green shirts have won 12, with one match ending in a tie and another without any results.
