New York: The historic 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be held from March 26 to May 3 next year, according to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Naqvi made the much-anticipated announcement during a panel discussion at the PSL Roadshow, which featured legends Shaan Masood, Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, Saud Shakeel, Faheem Ashraf and Abrar Ahmed along with legends Wasim Akram and Ramis Raza.
“A lot of investors here asked us about the PSL schedule. So I can tell you one thing that PSL 11 will start on March 26 as per the will of Almighty Allah and we plan to hold the final on May 3,” Naqvi told the audience.
The PCB chairman also shared the revised schedule for the auction of the two new PSL teams, which will now take place on January 8.
For those who don’t know, the auction was originally scheduled to be held on January 6; However, it was postponed by a day, initially set for December 15, as the deadline for submission of bids for the new owners was extended by a week.
“In view of the growing interest in acquiring new HBL PSL teams from Europe, America, Middle East and beyond, we have decided to extend the bid submission deadline by one week to 22nd December 2025,” Naqvi wrote.
“Best of luck to everyone who is excited to welcome our new owners to the HBL PSL family.”
The development comes on the back of a successful roadshow at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, where the marquee league received “unprecedented attention”, with a large number of investors attending the event and expressing their interest in buying the two new PSL franchises for sale.
The cricket board, as a result, held another roadshow here on Saturday night in a bid to engage with international investors ahead of the auction.
Notably, the PSL, which started with five franchises in 2016 and later expanded to six sides in 2018, has further expanded with the addition of two new teams from its upcoming 11th edition to be played next year.
With the upcoming additions, PSL will undergo its first major overhaul in seven years, bringing the total number of franchises to eight.
