LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved the establishment of a state-of-the-art biomechanics laboratory at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.
The existing building at NCA, which has been in operation since 2006, will undergo extensive renovation and modernization to accommodate a new biomechanics laboratory and other advanced training facilities.
Talking about the project, PCB Director Aakib Javed said that the renovation work of the building will start soon once the approval for the new laboratory is given.
“The building has been part of the National Cricket Academy since 2006. We are now renovating and upgrading it. Approval has been given to install a state-of-the-art biomechanics lab, while new high-speed cameras and advanced software have already been procured,” said Agib.
He added that the upgraded facility will feature the latest biomechanics equipment, a modern gymnasium on the top floor and a swimming pool within the academy premises for the recovery and rehabilitation of players.
The former Pakistan fast bowler also hoped that the biomechanics laboratory would be completed and fully operational within the next five to six months.
“Previous cameras and other devices are outdated and no longer fit for use. We now have the latest technology which will allow us to analyze the actions of the bowlers and assess the batters and fielders in the outfield,” he said.
He further explained that the existing biomechanics system only allowed indoor evaluations, whereas the upgraded system would significantly expand the academy’s ability to conduct comprehensive performance analysis in outdoor training environments.
