Sylhet: Veteran all-rounder Naseer Hossain’s unbeaten 90 helped Dhaka Capitals beat rock-bottom Nogali Express by seven wickets in Match 15 of the 2025-26 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Batting first, the Express posted a modest total of 133/6 in the allotted 20 overs despite a blistering 90-run partnership between captain Haider Ali and veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi.
The bottom side got off to a poor start to their innings as they were reduced to 40/5 in 9.3 overs, despite Masa’s 19-ball 24.
Following the collapse, Haider and Nabi put on 90 runs, which culminated in the third delivery of the final over, with the former top-scoring on 47 off 36 balls with three fours and a six.
Nabi, on the other hand, returned unbeaten after scoring 42 off 33 balls with two sixes and several fours.
For the Capitals, Imad Wasim, Taskin Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin, Ziaur Rahman, Abdullah Al Mamun and Naseer took one wicket each.
Chasing a modest target of 134, the Capitals easily hit the winning runs with just 3 wickets to spare with 35 balls to spare thanks to Naseer’s mammoth performance.
However, the Capitals had a different start to the nation, with Hasan Mahmood dismissing both their openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz (zero) and Al Mamun (one) for just 14 runs in three overs.
Following the initial setback, Naseer walked out to bat at number 3.
The experienced all-rounder stitched a one-sided 59-run partnership with Irfan Shukhar, who could contribute 12 off 11 balls for the third wicket, while Imad Wasim scored an unbeaten 29 off 16 balls with 2 fours and a six.
Naseer’s unbeaten 90 off 50 balls with 14 fours and 2 sixes earned him the man of the match award.
Mahmood took two wickets and Zaheer Khan one wicket for the Express side.
Notably, despite winning by seven wickets, Dhaka Capitals are fifth in the PPL 2025-26 table with four points from five matches, while Nogali Express are at the bottom as they are yet to taste victory.
