Perth: Pakistan’s Haris Rauf returned a frugal 3/23 for Melbourne Stars but Finn Allen’s superb half-century helped Perth Scorchers win by six wickets in the 39th match of the Big Bash League (PBL) 2025 here on Saturday.

Chasing a target of 131, the Scorchers were rocked by Raoup’s fiery opening as they conceded just 26 runs in the first five overs and lost three wickets.

Rauff dismissed Mitchell Marsh (12) on his first delivery before dismissing Cooper Connolly (two) in one ball.

He dismissed wicket-keeper batsman Josh Inglis with the first delivery of his second over.

However, after his sensational debut, he continued the run chase with a 94-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Allan Hardy.

Peter Siddle was dismissed on the first delivery of the 16th over after his 39-ball 69 with 7 sixes and 2 fours to top score for the Scorchers.

Hardy, on the other hand, batted till the end and scored an unbeaten 41 off 37 balls with 5 fours in the next over.

Rauf was the best bowler for the Stars while Siddle chipped in with a scalp.

Batting first, Stars were bowled out for 130 runs in 18.2 overs.

Stonis capped a 39-ball 55 with 5 fours and 2 sixes to lead the way for the Stars. Apart from him, only Campbell Kellaway (19) and Hilton Cartwright (13) managed to score double figures against the Scorchers’ bowling attack.

Jay Richardson was the standout bowler for the Scorchers, taking 4 for 16 in his 3.2 overs, followed by David Payne and Connolly with 2 each, while Mahli Beardman and Hardy chipped in with a scalp each.

Perth Scorchers are top of the table with 14 points from 10 league-level matches, while Melbourne Stars are third in the BBL standings with 12 points.
