HARARE: The third match of the U19 ODI tri tri-series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club on Monday was abandoned due to rain.
Chasing Pakistan’s 354, Zimbabwe could not sustain their innings. Earlier, centuries from Samir Minhas and Usman Khan took Pakistan to 354-7.
After being asked to bat first, Pakistan got off to a steady start, with openers Ali Hasan Baloch and Samir Minhas adding 40 runs for the first wicket.
However, Baloch fell early, scoring 8 off 15 balls, with Kirby Matharamed providing the breakthrough.
Usman Khan then joined Minhas in the crease and the pair put together a magnificent 199-run partnership that laid the foundation for Pakistan’s mammoth score.
Both the batsmen showed great attitude and shot selection to take the innings past 300 runs.
Minhas top scored 142 off 106 balls with 17 fours and 4 sixes before being dismissed by Benny Juice.
Following Minhas’ departure, Husayfa Ahsan added a valuable 83 with Usman Khan.
The partnership was broken when Madaramed took his second wicket, dismissing Usman after scoring 121 off 112 balls that included 12 fours and 2 sixes.
Pakistan then suffered a slight slump in the last over. Daniel Ali Khan was dismissed by Mataramet for 3 runs in the 48th over, while skipper Farhan Yousaf could manage just 2 runs.
Husayfa was dismissed for 54 off 53 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Hamza Zahoor remained unbeaten on 3 runs off three balls as Momin Qamar ducked the first ball.
Kirby Mataramed bowled well as Zimbabwe lost 3 wickets for 53 runs in nine overs. Banashe Masai took two wickets and Dhruv Patel took one wicket.
