LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday announced the 17-man squad for the U19 Women’s five-match domestic T20I series against South Africa from July 14 to 24 in Karachi.
Middle-order batsman Fissa Fiaz, who scored a half-century in the fourth T20I of the five-match series against Bangladesh in December last year, will lead Pakistan in the upcoming series.
According to the PCB, the women’s national selection team made six changes to the Pakistan team that toured Bangladesh and won the five-match series 3-2 with Alsoha Hammad, Parira Saif, Hadiya Mina, Mah Noor, Maham Nasqat and Zainab Khanum.
Meanwhile, 11 of the 17 squad members for the Bangladesh series – captain Fissa, Aqsa Habib, Areesha Ansari, Komal Khan, Mahnoor Zeb, Memunah Khalid, Rahima Syed, Ravail Farhan, Rosina Akram, Shahar Bano and Jubishan Ayaz – have managed to rejoin their respective places.
The South Africa U19 Women’s tour of Pakistan will be their first and the Proteas are scheduled to reach the metropolitan city on July 10, three days ahead of the series opener at the National Bank Stadium on July 14.
Meanwhile, the upcoming series will be an important opportunity for the national team to prepare for the ACC Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup in Pakistan later this year and the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup early next year.
