LAHORE: The Pakistan men’s cricket team will not take part in the departure training camp ahead of the T20I series against Sri Lanka, Geo Super sources said on Tuesday.
To boost preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, the Green Shirts are scheduled to play three T20Is against Sri Lanka on January 7, 9 and 11 respectively.
However, as per usual practice, the national team will not participate in a training camp before leaving for the island nation as head coach Mike Hesson, bowling coach Ashley Noffke, fielding coach Shane McDermott, physiotherapist Cliff Deacon and Loudon Deacon will join the Sri Lankan squad directly.
After the conclusion of the T20I tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe on November 29, the overseas coaches of the national men’s cricket team have left for their respective countries for annual holidays to celebrate Christmas and New Year.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan team is scheduled to reach Sri Lanka on January 4 and 5, while several members of the squad, including returning all-rounder Shatab Khan, are participating in franchise leagues around the world.
However, the national players currently participating in the league have the option to join the Pakistan team directly in Sri Lanka.
