Cox’s Bazar: Fissa Faiz’s unbeaten half-century helped Pakistan beat Bangladesh by six wickets in the fourth U19 Women’s T20I of the five-match series at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Pakistan captain Eman Nasir’s decision to bat first paid off as his side’s bowling restricted Bangladesh to a modest total of 126/7 in 20 overs.
Achena Jannath led the batting charge for the hosts by anchoring his 34-ball 35 with 4 fours.
Apart from him, only middle-order batsman Maimuna Nahar (24 not out) and openers Sumaiya Akhtar (20) and Satiya Nusrat (12) could score double figures against a spirited Pakistan bowling attack.
For Pakistan, Rosina Akram and Memuna Khalid took 2 wickets each and Shahr Bano took one wicket.
Chasing a modest target of 127 runs, the visitors easily cruised to victory with 4 wickets and 13 balls to spare.
Leading the charge for the Green Shirts was middle-order batsman Fissa, who scored a maximum unbeaten half-century.
Opening pair Komal Khan and skipper Eman put together a blistering 33 runs in three overs as the tour team was cleaned up by Habiba Islam for 22 off 11 balls.
Eman then formed brief partnerships with Rawail Farhan, Jufishan Ayaz and Arisha Ansari, who withdrew after making modest contributions, resulting in Pakistan slumping to 58/4 in 9.4 overs.
Fissa, who came out to bat at No.6, turned the game on its head with a belligerent attack and scored a 34-ball half-century that eventually earned him the Man of the Match award.
He was amply supported by captain Eamon, who held his ground firmly in the slump and returned unbeaten by anchoring 42 off 47 balls with the help of four fours.
The duo shared a match-winning 69-run partnership for the fifth wicket to help the green shirts level the five-match series 2-2, with the final match scheduled on Friday.
