DUBAI: After the latest annual update, Pakistan has improved the ICC Men’s Test rankings, with changes across the rankings following the annual recalculation of the annual results process.
Australia retained their place in the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings, strengthening their lead with a three-point increase to a total of 131 points.
Reigning World Test champions South Africa are second on 119 runs and have three rating points overall.
India moved up one place to third with 104 points, overtaking England, who were trailing at 102nd in the rankings.
England’s drop came after results played before 30 April 2023 were removed from the weighted calculation, including notable home series wins against New Zealand and South Africa, and a 3-0 win in Pakistan.
Updated ICC Test Rankings:
| Teams | points |
| Australia | 131 |
| South Africa | 119 |
| India | 104 |
| England | 102 |
| New Zealand | 101 |
| Pakistan | 89 |
| Sri Lanka | 86 |
| West Indies | 68 |
| Bangladesh | 67 |
| Ireland | 25 |
The Blackcaps sit at the fifth spot, while Pakistan have also benefited from the update as they now sit at the sixth spot with 89 points, ahead of Sri Lanka with 86 points overall in the latest update.
The change comes after Pakistan halved a 2-0 series defeat against Bangladesh in 2024 and a 3-0 series win against Pakistan fell outside the full-weight period.
West Indies (eighth), Bangladesh (ninth) and Ireland (10th) in Test rankings complete the top 10 in the overall rankings table update.
Notably, the Pakistan Test team led by Shaun Masood will travel to Bangladesh for a two-match Test series, which is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.
The series begins with the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka from May 8 to 12.
The second Test will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Ground from May 16 to 20.
Later this year, Pakistan will also play Test series against England, Sri Lanka and the West Indies.
