Dublin: Pakistan crashed out of the T20 tri-series hosted by Ireland after Wednesday’s match against the West Indies at Castle Avenue was abandoned due to rain.

If they defeat hosts Ireland in the final of the T20I tri-series at the same venue on Thursday, Pakistan will have just two points after three matches to move to the bottom.

Also, as they are in contention to clinch the T20I tri-series by defeating Pakistan in the upcoming game, dropping the match has benefited the hosts immensely as a win would take their points to 12, two more than the West Indies.

Rain delayed the start of the recently abandoned match by 70 minutes, and after a spirited effort by the grounds staff to make the pitch actionable, West Indies captain Chinelle Henry won the toss and put Pakistan into bat.

The Green Shirts’ batting unit struggled against a disciplined West Indies bowling attack as they could muster 111/7 in 16.5 overs before another rain interruption, which ultimately proved decisive.

Middle-order batsman Alia Riaz anchored a 24 off 23 balls to remain the highest score for Pakistan, followed by captain Fatima Sana’s unbeaten 21 off as many balls.

Apart from them, only Ramin Shamim, Ayesha Zafar (17 each) and Gul Feroza (10) managed to score double figures for Pakistan.

For the West Indies, Ashmini Munisar and Cinelle Henry took two wickets each, while Zaida James, Affie Fletcher and Gianna Joseph took one each.
