Sylhet: Mushfiqur Rahim scored 137 runs to become Bangladesh’s leading century scorer in Test cricket.

The experienced batsman brought up his 14th Test century in style, reaching the milestone with nine fours and a six off 178 balls, surpassing teammate Mominul Haq who had equaled him with 13 Test centuries.

Mushfiqur’s landmark innings now puts him at the top of Bangladesh’s all-time Test century list, ahead of Tamim Iqbal, Najmul Hossain Santo and Liton Das among the country’s greatest red-ball batsmen.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh were bowled out for 390 in 102.2 overs in their second innings, building a first-innings lead and setting Pakistan a challenging target of 437 runs.

Mushfiqur scored 137 runs off 233 balls with 12 fours and a six as he was dismissed by Sajid Khan.

Liton Das provided strong support with 69 off 92 balls with 5 fours, while Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored 52 off 64 balls with 10 fours.

Also valuable contributions came from Mominul Haque 30, Taijul Islam 22, and useful lower-order runs from Mehidi Hasan Miraz and Shoriful Islam.

For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad took 4 wickets for 86 runs in 20 overs. Sajid Khan took 3 wickets, Hasan Ali 2 wickets and Mohammad Abbas 1 wicket.

In reply, Pakistan made a steady start to their second innings and were 0 for no loss in two overs at the end of play on day three.

Openers Abdullah Fazal and Azan Awais will resume batting on day four and Pakistan will begin a tough chase of 437 runs to win the Test.
