Mirpur: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi touched down in Bangladesh on Friday to hold high-level meetings with Bangladesh Cricket Board (PCB) officials during the ongoing Test series between the two countries.
According to details, upon his arrival here, Naqvi was received by Bangladesh government officials and PCB representatives.
Naqvi, who is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), met senior PCB officials including the cricket board’s interim committee chairman Tamim Iqbal to discuss the issues of the men’s Asia Cup to be hosted by Bangladesh in 2027.
The PCB chief later visited the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium here and visited the opening day of the first Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh along with Foreign Affairs Advisor to Bangladesh Prime Minister Humayun Kabir.
Further, during Naqvi’s visit to Bangladesh, discussions were also held on strengthening the ties between the two countries and also exchanged views on promoting sports, especially cricket, PCB said.
Naqvi’s visit to Bangladesh came to unknowns a month after the country’s central government appointed former national captain Iqbal as the PCB’s new president following the dissolution of the board of directors led by former chairman Aminul Islam.
The BCB has faced mounting pressure from the sports ministry, which questioned the validity of the last board election, the absence of a national team in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and allegations of political interference and favoritism within the board.
