Abdullah Shafiq plays a shot during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi at Gaddafi Stadium on April 25, 2026 in Lahore, Pakistan.

Guyana: Three-time Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions Lahore Qalandars have replaced Bangladeshi all-rounder Shamim Hossain with Abdullah Shafiq for the remainder of the ongoing Global Super League (GSL) 2026.

The franchise confirmed the development through its official social media channels after Shafiq was called up to Pakistan’s Test squad for the remainder of the two-match series against the West Indies and the next three-match tour to England.

“Squad Update. Abdullah Shafique joins Pakistan squad for national duty,” the franchise wrote.

“Bangladesh all-rounder Shamim Hossain joins the Gulanders family for the remainder of the Global Super League in Guyana,” the post added.

Shamim has represented Bangladesh in 52 T20 Internationals and brings considerable experience to the Qalandars. The left-handed batsman has scored 621 runs at a strike rate of 122.72, including a half-century.

He has amassed 1,040 runs in 61 matches at a strike rate of 141.68 in five seasons in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), including six fifties.

The squad reshuffle comes after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently announced two inclusions in the national Test squad for the West Indies series and the upcoming three-match Test tour to England.

The dismissal of opener Abdullah Fazal as he was declared ineligible prompted the recall of Abdullah Shafiq.

According to PCB, Fazal underwent an MRI scan after the injury. After a medical evaluation, the left-arm opener was advised to begin a rehabilitation program and was subsequently ruled out of the West Indies series and the remainder of the England tour.

The board has included South Shakeel in the squad as an additional batting option for the remainder of the Caribbean tour. However, his availability for the England series is subject to his fitness.
