CHENNAI: Anthony Mosca’s quick-fire half-century and a combined bowling effort helped Italy beat the United Arab Emirates by 112 runs in a warm-up match for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

UAE opener Muhammad Wasim’s decision, aided by its openers Anthony and Justin Mosca, saw Italy post a mammoth total of 193/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

The duo put on an 81-run partnership in seven overs to lay a solid foundation for a defendable score.

Finally, in the final delivery of the seventh over, Anthony was run out for 56 off 22 balls with five sixes and several fours.

Justin, on the other hand, scored 48 off 36 balls until he retired in the 14th over.

Apart from them, Harry Manenti and Grant Stewart contributed significantly with 29 runs each, while Ben Manenti chipped in with 20.

Among the UAE’s bowlers, Junaid Siddiqui took 3 for 32 in his four overs, while Simranjeet Singh and Muhammad Javadullah claimed one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 194, the UAE’s batting line-up struggled against Italy’s restrained bowling attack and were bowled out for 81 in 18.2 overs.

Lower-order batsman Muhammad Farooq top-scored with a cautious 23 off 25 balls, while Muhammad Zohaib (16) and Aryansh Sharma (15) scored double figures.

Krishan Kalugamake and Stewart led Italy’s bowling charge with three wickets each, followed by JJ Smuts with two wickets, Ali Hasan and Ben Manenti chipping in with one scalp each.
