New York: Karachi’s National Bank Stadium will be better than the one in Lahore as the historic stadium will be rebuilt after Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said.

Speaking at the PSL Roadshow on Saturday night, Naqvi shared the cricket board’s plans for major stadiums in the country while also announcing the construction of a state-of-the-art cricket academy, which he said would “completely change things”.

“Wasim (Akram) asked me about the Karachi stadium, half of the stadium has already been built. So, after PSL 11, we will demolish it and by the will of Allah Almighty it will be better than the Lahore stadium,” Naqvi said.

“Also, we are already done. We are launching the Muzaffarabad stadium that we have acquired and our target is to get it ready before PSL, if not, it will be launched by this year.

“After that, the academy is the big target, the investment for that is the most important, I would say look at it after three to four months. You will see, it will change everything. The world’s best stuff will be there.”

Notably, the PSL, which started with five franchises in 2016 and later expanded to six sides in 2018, has further expanded with the addition of two new teams from its upcoming 11th edition to be played next year.

With the upcoming additions, PSL will undergo its first major overhaul in seven years, bringing the total number of franchises to eight.
