Dublin: Rebecca Stoecklin scored a half-century as Ireland Women beat Pakistan Women by seven wickets in the T20I tri-series at Castle Avenue on Sunday.

Chasing a challenging target of 177, Ireland reached the target in 19.1 overs thanks to performances from Rebecca Stoeckel and Amy Hunter.

Stoeckel was unbeaten on 60 off 42 balls with 7 fours, while opener Hunter laid the foundation for Chase with a fluent 56 off 44 balls with 7 fours and a six.

Prendergast finished with an unbeaten 33 off 17 balls with 6 fours.

Pakistan’s bowlers struggled to contain the hosts despite making early strides. Among the bowlers, Ayesha Zafar took 2-24 from her three overs, while Ramin Shamim claimed a wicket.

Batting first, the Girls in Green posted a match total in their allotted 20 overs thanks to some excellent batting from openers Muneefa Ali and Gul Feroza and valuable contributions from captain Fatima Sana and Saira Zabeen.

After scoring 32 runs off 15 balls with 6 boundaries, Ava Canning got him out and Pakistan lost Gul Feroza for 44 runs.

Arlene Kelly then gave the visitors a second breakthrough, dismissing Ayesha Jaffer cheaply for a six off eight balls, including a boundary.

Muneefa Ali and Saira Zabeen steadied the innings and added crucial runs to take Pakistan past 100. Muneeba brought up her sixth T20I half-century in style.

However, the 88-run partnership came to an end when Alana Dalzell dismissed Muneeba after scoring 65 off 41 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes.

Canning then dismissed Saira Zabeen for 36 off 33 balls with 4 fours as Pakistan were bowled out for 155-4 in 16.5 overs.

Captain Fatima Sana took her maiden wicket to Arla Prendergast after scoring 21 runs off 14 balls, including 2 boundaries, while Alia Riaz was run out in the last ball of the innings after scoring four runs off seven balls.

For Ireland, Ava Canning took 2 for 35 from her four overs, while Alana Dalzell, Orla Prendergast and Arlene Kelly took one each.
